Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by selecting and training; mentoring; assigning duties; building a team-based work environment; establishing performance expectations and conducting regular performance evaluations; providing recognition and rewards; coaching for success and improvement; and ensuring diversity awareness. Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application; ensuring compliance with them; and utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy. Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives; consulting with business partners, managers, co-workers, or other key stakeholders; soliciting, evaluating, and applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost-effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.What you'll do...
Responsibilities
1. Architect, design, and implement high performance large volume data ingestion and integration processes in a complex, large-scale data environment.
2. Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
3. Oversee and mentor the data engineering team's engineering practices, ensuring data privacy and security compliance.
4. Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
5. Work closely with all business units and engineering teams to develop strategy for long term data platform architecture.
6. Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
7. Implement processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.
8. Write complex queries for data analysis and data extraction.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
2. 9+ Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Software Developer, or similar role in data management.
3. Strong knowledge of and experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
4. Proficient in scripting languages like Python, Java, Scala, etc.
5. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
6. Deep understanding of data structures and algorithms.
7. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and principles is a plus.
8. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
9. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a Principal Data Engineer, you should be expert at handling and overseeing large scale data projects. Your strategic and technical skills will be crucial to understand and meet the company's data needs.
