Senior Manager - Master Data Management

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Manager to lead the Master Data Management team. The Sr. Manager will collaborate with the cross functional teams (R&D, Global Medical, Compliance, Global Commercial Organizations and other MDM Product Owner and leaders to co-design, upgrade and implement Enterprise MDM Healthcare Customer Master, Study Master, Product Master and other global data management capabilities.

The Sr. Manager will manage Healthcare Customer Master, Clinical Study Master and Product Master domains and will be responsible for developing master data strategies, ensuring data integrity and consistency across Enterprise MDM domains. The ideal candidate has strong functional and technical skills, experience with MDM technologies, and a deep understanding of data architecture and ETL processes.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Team Expansion: Develop a comprehensive talent strategy that includes recruitment, retention, onboarding, and career development and build a diverse and inclusive team that drives innovation, aligns with Amgen's culture and values, and delivers business priorities

  • Organizational Leadership: Work closely with senior leaders within the function and across the Amgen India site to align engineering goals with broader organizational objectives and demonstrate leadership by contributing to strategic discussions

  • Possess in-depth understanding of the life science domain and health care entities such as health care personnel (HCP), health care organization (HCO), Clinical trials, investigators, clinical sites, plan & players, etc.

  • Possess good understanding of master data management concepts, industry-standard data sources, and best practices

  • Work with business stakeholders to gather and translate business requirements into technical terms and drive team effort to design, build, and manage technology solutions that solve business problems

  • Collaborate with other team members across the globe and ensure seamless communication and sharing/ undertaking tasks

  • Manage a team of diverse skill sets (cloud analyst, Developer, architects, operations, etc.)

  • Provide techno functional leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring alignment to best practices and standards.

  • Lead task planning and task distribution across team members and ensure timely completion with high quality and report accurate status to seniors

  • Exhibit outlook to bring continuous improvement, and innovation, and exhibit capability to learn new areas (technology, business domain, project management process) and drive similar efforts of team members

  • Ability to make the right and timely decision on problem-solving by considering the broader picture, especially on approach, technical nuances, and planning.

  • Work with cross-functional teams to gather and document business requirements related to master data.

  • Follow Agile software development methods to design, build, implement, and deploy.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with product teams

  • Consistently contribute to researching & evaluating the latest MDM technologies through rapid learning, conducting proof-of-concepts, and creating prototype solutions.

  • Identify trends and areas for improvement and make recommendations for enhancing data management practices

  • Conduct regular audits of master data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Analyze and improve data management processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with 8 - 10 years of experience in Business, Engineering, IT or related field OR

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 - 14 years of experience in Business, Engineering, IT or related field OR

  • Diploma with 14 - 18 years of experience in Business, Engineering, IT or related field

  • 5+ years of experience managing technical teams.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience implementing MDM in life sciences domain leading large MDM engagements.

  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, data quality, and data governance standard methodologies.

  • Experience delivering Master Data solutions through Agile methodologies for software implementation.

  • Proficiency in Informatica MDM or Reltio MDM platform

  • Deep understanding of US healthcare concepts and data management standard methodologies along with data analytics capabilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with appropriate and logical structuring of thought process during discussion/ presentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a leadership role within a pharmaceutical or technology organization.

  • Experience with cloud platform services, visualization, data management, SAP MDG

  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards related to master data governance.

  • Good understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts

Professional Certifications:

  • Informatica MDM or Reltio certification (preferred)

  • Agile Certified Practitioner (preferred)

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical abilities to assess and improve master data processes and solutions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex data concepts clearly to technical and non-technical collaborators.

  • Effective problem-solving skills to address data-related issues and implement scalable solutions.

  • Ability to work effectively with global, virtual teams
