Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Privacy and Data Management Professional to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with privacy and data management, in addition to overseeing daily privacy related operations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that our organization continues to operate securely and efficiently while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.

What do you need to succeed?

Directly reporting to the Director, HR Risk and Compliance Management, you will be a key member of HR’s Risk and Compliance Management team. Your primary responsibility will be to further enhance and manage HR’s privacy and data governance practices. You will ensure that our organization adheres to all relevant privacy regulations and standards, while also safeguarding the privacy of our employees' data.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus

  • At least 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related area

  • Self-motivated with an ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong understanding of privacy regulations, including PIPEDA, OSFI E-21, OSFI E-13, GDPR and others

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess potential privacy and data governance risks

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with risk assessment tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Archer) and methodologies

  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills

What will you do?

  • Develop and implement comprehensive privacy policies and guidelines for the HR department

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant privacy regulations, including PIPEDA, OSFI E-21, OSFI E-13, GDPR, and other applicable laws

  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and data protection impact assessments as needed

  • Monitor and audit HR data processing activities to ensure compliance with privacy policies

  • Provide training and guidance to HR teams on privacy best practices and regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with legal, IT, and other departments to address privacy-related issues and incidents

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in privacy laws and regulations

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
