The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, this position will play a crucial role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing our data infrastructure to support business decisions across OpenTable. The role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business problems and develop solutions through data analysis, create and manage data dashboards and visualizations, and evaluate new data sources and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the data analytics team.
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer level position is expected to have a strong understanding of the OpenTable Systems and its impact on the data architecture. This position will have to be a strong communicator, have an analytical approach and strong technical skills and be comfortable delivering results in ambiguity. Experience with statistical modelling background preferred.
In this role, you will:
- Gather and analyze business requirements to design data models and build data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
- Translate business problems into data questions, find solutions to solve those questions with resourcefulness while ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and consistency.
- Create and manage data dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide insight into key business metrics
- See opportunities for process improvement and automation to streamline data workflows.
- Evaluate new data sources and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the data analytics team
- Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and security in accordance with company policies and industry standards
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and standard methodologies in data analytics, and find opportunities for improvement in data processes and methodologies
Please apply if:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in data analytics or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and can translate complex data into actionable insights
- Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis and data wrangling
- Good working knowledge of Airflow and GitHub
- Experience with Snowflake or any other relational database
- Experience with design and development of ETL processes
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Superset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sophisticated data concepts to non-technical partners
- Proficient in using JIRA and adept at orchestrating analytical projects
- Strong multitasking abilities coupled with an agile approach
- Experience in understanding and translating ambiguous and sophisticated business problems into data solutions and communicating findings to the leadership
- High energy and contagious passion; willing to take on tough projects

There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this remote Canada based role is $110,000 - 130,000
