Short Description

  • Schedules patients for operative procedures on the campus for the Main OR, Labor & Delivery Area, Anesthesia, SPU and the Special Test Department utilizing the OR Information System.
  • Furnishes the Department of Surgery, OB/GYN, Anesthesia, Patient Care Services and the Ancillary departments with data and financial information.     
  • High volume of customer service contact, acts as a liaison for service recovery when there are issues with OR scheduling customers.
  • Expected to turn negative scheduling issues into positive resolutions. 
  • Works directly with surgeon and residents to resolve scheduling conflicts due to equipment and available block time.
  • Audits and enters data from perioperative documents. 
  • Enters charges for patient billing. 
  • Calculates patient mark up charges for implants, consignments and non stocked items utilizing established processes from the Finance Department. 
  • Investigates customer issues related to facility access, charting questions and patient accounts.
  • First responder to software trouble calls for the OR system users on and off campus. 

Experience Required

  • 1-2 years of experience in clinical environment, preferably in a surgical office setting. 
  • Basic knowledge of AMA procedural terminology. 
  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft office including ability to produce financial spreadsheets.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required, some college with business accounting courses.
