Job Description

What you will be doing:

  • Create and maintain GIS solutions to support the department’s Transportation Asset Management and GIS Programs.
  • Perform data analysis and database design to support the department’s Transportation Asset Management Program.
  • Assists in post-production support of GIS applications which includes routine maintenance, enhancements, and troubleshooting software errors.

Official Position Description:

In the Office of Data Governance, develops &/or modifies GIS databases &/or web mapping applications to support the department¿s Asset Management Program. Develops, maintains, supports & converts programs which interface with data housed within the department¿s extensive collection of GIS, Web & Mapping application utilizing a computer & various programs (e.g. ESRI, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Field Maps App, ArcGIS Collector App, ArcGIS Dashboard, ArcGIS Online, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, ArcServer). Creates &/or maintains customized applications &/or scripts that utilize common computer programming language (i.e., SQL, Python (ArcPy), html, ArcGIS JavaScript API, ArcGIS Arcade).

Assists with analysis & design in support of the department¿s Geographic Information Systems (GIS)/Roadway Information data maintenance & management requirements. Assists in gathering system requirements; defines & documents current &/or future business process flows; identifies & develops software solutions to business problems; assists in post-production support of business applications, which may include routine maintenance & enhancements & the need to perform research to aid in troubleshooting software production errors. Utilizes Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) to conduct analysis, produce reports, documentation & presentations. Operates state vehicle in order to travel throughout the state & assist with data collection.

Qualifications

Must be enrolled at an accredited college or university and in good academic standing. 

Supplemental Information

-This position is overtime eligible based on FLSA standards.

Based on job duties, this position is designated as telework eligible on a hybrid basis (i.e., working at least 3 days per week in the office); the selected applicant must complete the initial training period prior to being eligible to telework.  All requests to telework are reviewed and must be approved by ODOTs Chief Human Resources Officer.

Freshman and Sophomore Students

$19.50 per hour

Junior and Senior Students

$20.00 per hour

Graduate Students

$24.00 per hour
