Senior Reseacher - Foundation Models

Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for a Senior Researcher.

Founded in 2012, the Noah’s Ark lab has evolved into a prominent research organization with notable achievements in academia and industry. The lab’s mission focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. Driven by impactful, long-term projects, the aim is to enhance state-of-the-art research while integrating innovations into the company's products and services, including LLMs, RL, NLP, computer vision, AI theory, and Autonomous driving.

About the job:

• Research and develop innovative DL architecture and algorithms for foundation models.

• Survey the recent development in the related field and proactively communicate with the team members.

• Perform experiments and evaluate, analyze and drive insights from experiments.

• Contributing to the proposal of high-impact intellectual properties (e.g., patents), publishing of research papers in top-tier AI/ML.

Requirements

About the ideal candidate:

• A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.

• Hands-on experience and deep understanding on state-of-the-art techniques of foundation models in NLP or CV.

• Strong coding skills mainly in Python, with a focused expertise in PyTorch.

• At least one first-author accepted paper in one of the following conferences: NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR/TMLR/JMLR/AAAI/IJCAI/CVPR/SIGIR/Interspeech/ICASSP/KDD/TACL/ACL/EMNLP/NAACL/EACL.

• Project experience on efficient AI architectures, training and inference is a huge asset.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
