DTIC-PLCT-2025-04 - Specialist support technician for ML-defined Radio: Wireless Networks and Reinforcement Learning
BARCELONA - Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Universitat Pompeu Fabra
Description
Project description:
Research Assistant position in the area of wireless communications and machine learning. In particular, the selected candidate will perform research activities related to the MLDR (A Machine Learning Defined Radio interface) project. In the MLDR project, we aim to build a new, clean-slate AI/ML-Driven Radio (MLDR) interface. This new MLDR interface will learn to communicate by selecting and configuring the set of communication protocols and functionalities that better suit every particular use-case and scenario, thus satisfying the aforementioned hard performance requirements and efficiently using the available spectrum resources.
Main research field: Wireless Networks
Tasks to be performed:
- Study of the state of the art in the field of wireless networks (e.g. Wi-Fi) and Machine Learning. In particular, to study how channel access functionalities can be improved through machine learning techniques. This activity is related to Work Package 1 of MLDR.
-
Development, implementation and evaluation of communication, network and application (with special interest in extended reality systems) functionalities within the framework of the architecture proposed in the MLDR project. This activity is related to Work Packages 2 and 3 of MLDR.
-
Development and implementation of machine learning algorithms to improve the operation of communication and network functionalities. This activity is related to Work Packages 2 and 3 of MLDR.
-
Contribution to the writing of deliverables and scientific publications that are developed within the framework of the MLDR project. This activity is related to Work Package 5 of MLDR.
