TL;DR
🤓 You'll be the first Head of Data (we already have one data analyst), building the data function from the ground up and shaping your team. You'll own data from A to Z with one goal: answer other teams' questions with data.
💰 €110-€140k* + Stock-Options/BSPCE
🇪🇺 We are flexible: you can work from anywhere in Europe within a 3-hour flight from Paris (HQ) and come to our office once a month (fully reimbursed) or more often. This ensures effective collaboration and supports our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.
✈️ We offer substantial support for relocation (up to 10k€), including finding an apartment in Paris and supporting you with the visa procedure.
🛂 We currently sponsor visas for individuals relocating to France or already based here. We are unable to sponsor visas for remote positions outside of France at this time.

✨ About the role ✨
Your main goal: help teams find answers in data. You’ll be in in charge of the data at Photoroom, reporting to the CTO. This role combines technical expertise with business acumen. As both an architect and a hands-on contributor, you will build and lead the data team, oversee data infrastructure, engineering, and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization. Your main missions will be:
Data platform: Own the end-to-end data platform for the whole company Create, own and maintain the data roadmap. Our priorities are, in that order: product analytics, financial reporting, data for machine learning (followed by data for enterprise, data for attribution)
Data engineering: owning and maintaining the technical stack. We currently have a very clean data warehouse (DBT, Terraform, Snowflake), your role will be to expand it while maintaining data quality
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing data team. You would manage both data engineers and data analysts.
Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, finance and all other teams to identify data needs and opportunities
Data for AI: you’ll work hand in hand with the machine learning team on projects such as improving models with user data and maintaining a single source of truth for training data
Insights Delivery: Drive the analysis and interpretation of complex data sets to deliver actionable insights that inform decisions, especially on product and commercial strategies, to optimize business performance, and enhance customer experience.
Audit, certification and investor relations: provide actionable reports and forecasts
✨ About you ✨
Candidates relevant for this role tend to have 8+ years of experience in data roles and have managed a team of data scientists and data engineers in the past.
Proven leadership experience in building and scaling data teams in a startup environment
Strong expertise in data engineering, architecture, and analytics
Proven track-record of implementing a self-serve data platform with a large adoption inside the company
Proficiency with modern data stack tools (e.g., Snowflake, Airbyte, DBT)
Experience with data analysis for mobile apps (tracking plan, data taxonomy, tools like Amplitude)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (ideally Google Cloud) and infrastructure-as-code
Communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Bonus: experience in data for machine learning, specifically computer vision
