Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Machine Learning Data Scientist to join our innovative team in driving advanced ML solutions across our credit card business. Reporting to the Head of Machine Learning, this role will focus on designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models to optimize credit decisioning, fraud prevention, customer segmentation, and marketing strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to translate business challenges into actionable ML solutions. Experience in financial services, especially in credit risk or fraud modeling, is highly preferred.

What a day is like:

Model Development & Deployment:

  • Design, build, and refine machine learning models to support credit risk scoring, fraud detection, and marketing personalization.
  • Leverage techniques like supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and NLP to address complex business problems.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to implement scalable pipelines for data processing, model training, and deployment.

Analytics & Insights:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement in business outcomes.
  • Translate model outputs into actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the creation of dashboards and reports for ongoing model monitoring and performance evaluation.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Automate repetitive tasks using AI/ML to enhance operational workflows.
  • Optimize existing models to improve processing speed, scalability, and accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with credit risk, fraud, marketing, and technology teams to ensure ML solutions align with business needs.
  • Support the Head of Machine Learning in presenting findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure models adhere to relevant regulatory requirements, such as FCRA and other compliance standards.
  • Implement explainable AI techniques to ensure transparency and fairness in decision-making.

Continuous Learning & Innovation:

  • Stay updated on the latest ML research and industry best practices to bring cutting-edge solutions to the organization.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to the strategic direction of ML initiatives.

 

You’re perfect for this role if you have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field is required
  • Master’s degree or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated machine learning experience
  • Python experience is required
  • Pyspark and Git experience is preferred
  • SQL experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of consumer financing industry (e.g., auto, credit card) is preferred
