The rapid evolution of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries and societies. A specific research area of SMU’s O’Donnell Data Science and Research Computing Institute (ODSRCI) is the development and exploration of scalable AI/ML applications using HPC technologies. The Postdoctoral Fellow in AI/ML will help position SMU as a respected leader in future computing technologies. The ODSRCI was recently created to enhance data science and AI/ML research across SMU campus, enabled by state-of-the-art HPC infrastructure, including an AI-supercomputer (NVIDIA SuperPOD). In particular, the Postdoctoral Fellow will help SMU in advancing AI/ML methods that create real-world impact such as digital twins and AR/VR technologies.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will design and implement novel, large scale AI/ML methods. He/she will collaborate with SMU researchers seeking to scale-up AI/ML applications on HPC platforms. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also provide technical mentorship and guidance to students, assist in preparing multi-disciplinary proposals, and prepare technical reports/papers for publication in journals and conferences. The Postdoctoral Fellow will receive advanced training from senior researchers to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career.

Qualifications
Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field and a strong knowledge of the theory and practice of AI/ML. Other requirements are hands-on experience in parallel programing and GPU programming. Experience with high performance computing is preferred.
