Our challenge
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist who will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying advanced tools that leverage large language models (LLMs) to improve data accessibility in our big data environment. The overall objective of this role is to lead the creation of an innovative platform that allows users to query large datasets using natural language, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our data analytics operations.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $130k – CAD $135k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Develop LLM solutions for querying structured data with natural language, including RAG architectures on enterprise knowledge bases.
- Build, scale, and optimize data science workloads, applying best MLOps practices for production.
- Lead the design and development of LLM-based tools to increase data accessibility, focusing on text-to-SQL platforms.
- Train and fine-tune LLM models to accurately interpret natural language queries and generate SQL queries.
- Implement and maintain APIs using FastAPI and Uvicorn for seamless integration and deployment.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior data scientists and developers.
- Stay updated with advancements in AI and NLP to incorporate best practices and new technologies.
Requirements:
You are:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in developing NLP applications and working with Generative AI models (e.g., GPT-4, LLaMA).
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., FastAPI, Uvicorn, Numpy, OpenAI API).
- Hands-on experience with data pre-processing techniques and tools (e.g., Numpy, Pandas).
- Experience with vector databases and embedding retrieval (e.g., Pinecone, ChromaDB).
- Experience with Big Data processing technologies (Spark, MapReduce, Hadoop, other NO SQL solutions)
- Knowledge of SQL and database management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
