Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Product Data Manager to lead a new team that impacts the shopping experience for millions of shoppers by ensuring accurate, efficient, and scalable management of Balsam Brands' product data across all brands and channels. We're looking for a forward-thinking leader who can blend technical acumen with strategic thinking to elevate our product data management practices. This role is expected to work in a hybrid model, which currently includes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in our Redwood City and Burlingame offices. If desired, this role can support a shifted schedule with typical work hours between 11am – 7pm.

What you’ll do:

  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Provide supervision to a team of 3-4 remote team members, defining tasks aligned with common goals, and fostering the professional development of team members through active discussion, feedback, coaching, and mentorship
    • Guide the team in establishing and maintaining product category specializations, enabling team members to become deep product experts in their assigned areas
    • Support the team's adoption and execution of agile methodologies, including oversight of sprint planning, ceremonies, and delivery
  • Strategic Data Management:
    • Implement the strategy for product data management across all brands and sub-brands
    • Ensure comprehensive product data coverage across all channels, including company websites, marketplace partners, wholesale partners, and B2B
    • Establish and maintain data quality standards and key performance indicators
    • Lead major data clean-up initiatives and strategic data improvement projects
    • Learn best practices for product data management and guide its development and implementation
    • Own Balsam Brands’ relationship with strategic product data partners
  • Cross-functional Leadership:
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the Product Data Team and other departments, ensuring alignment with business objectives
    • Develop a deep understanding of how different functions use product data and ensure the team's output meets these diverse needs
    • Collaborate with system owners to ensure effective integration with platforms across the technology stack
  • Process Innovation & Optimization:
    • Drive continuous improvement in team processes and workflows to increase efficiency and scalability
    • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and AI integration in product data management
    • Provide strategic input on tool selection and optimization, including PIM and related systems

What you bring to the table:

    • 7+ years of experience in product data management, master data management, or related field
    • 5+ years of ecommerce or omnichannel retail experience
    • 2+ years of people management experience, preferably in a technical or data-focused environment
    • Experience leading teams in an agile environment
    • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving efficiency
    • Excellence in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Experience with multi-channel retail and marketplace requirements preferred
    • Strong understanding of product information management systems and e-commerce platforms, a bonus

The base pay range for this position is: $113,000 to $141,000. Where an individual falls within that range will vary based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on candidate qualifications and experience, applicable skills, and other job-related factors. We benchmark our pay ranges against current external data sources and regularly review compensation for our team members.
