how you will contribute
To achieve its ambitious strategy Randstad is moving to a globally harmonized future state operating model. Standardization of tools and processes will support and drive this (digital) transformation. As part of this transformation, we are migrating from scattered local legacy systems to a set of state-of-the-art core systems which include our app, websites, front-, mid- and back-office. This transformation also offers the opportunity and need to redesign and implement a completely new data architecture to support our future analytical products as well as position Randstad to capitalize on AI.

As our new Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data landscape. You'll be the driving force behind establishing and maintaining an enterprise-wide vision for data management, ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility for all stakeholders. The Data Architect will focus on defining standards and a vision for the field of data, overseeing the data landscape and the relationship between resources, warehousing and access to the end user. The scope of the Enterprise Data Architect include o.a.:
the data flows between all our major systems
data management
ensure our event based architecture is enabling analytics
overall data strategy, design for governance processes
With data & analytics being vital to the success of all our strategic initiatives, a successful candidate will be a highly motivated professional with knowledge and experience in: product development, business requirements gathering, project & stakeholder management and of course data & analytics. HR/Staffing industry experience is a big plus.
The Data Architect is a key member of the enterprise architecture team as well as the data & analytics team, directly reporting to the Lead Enterprise Architect. And functionally to the team lead of the steering program. (s-one) In this role, you serve as the business and customer proxy with two main focuses. One is focused towards the team and enabling them to design and deliver awesome products. The other is externally focused and is all about communicating transparently and predictably to all your stakeholders, IT + business and global + local. Other key stakeholders for this role are the enterprise data architect, legal & data privacy, the product owner for our data dictionary, tech lead and implementation manager(s).
what you will be doing
The Data Architect focuses on defining standards and a vision of the field of data. You will have an overview of the data landscape and the relationship between resources, warehousing and access to the end user. Directing the establishment of an organization-wide vision of data.
As data architect your tasks will include:
continue to oversee an organization-wide logical data model and taxonomy of data attributes
be in charge of drawing up an organization-wide vision of data and data management.
define a versioning of the data landscape
selecting tools and packages for all components in the data landscape. This includes tooling for data management activities such as data lineage, data taxonomy, data modelling, data quality, metadata and document management. Act as an interface to suppliers on selection
communicating the standards and vision for the organization
reviewing and advising on change projects on the organization-wide standards and data landscape
monitoring the quality (usefulness, correctness, completeness) of the organization-wide logical data model and data taxonomy. With a focus on the potential for reuse of data
establish and maintain a list of critical data elements and through the project management standard (PSA, FO, data models)
setting up and organizing organization-wide reference lists and Master Data Management architecture
drafting a template for data requirements and business rules
who will you work with
You are a linking pin between the delivery teams, the product manager, the other program architects and the (local) business. This means you’ll have to collaborate with your team consisting of a business analyst, data analyst, SF CRM Analytics developers and data engineers. You have a functional line with the Global Head of Data & Analytics. Next to that, you play an important role in your peer group of product owners. Aligning dependencies and joint feature requests. A very important group are your global stakeholders, they help you define requirements and set priorities. Finally, you act as a representative of your products towards our 39 markets across the globe.
your typical day includes
What makes this role interesting is there are no typical days! On a particular Thursday you might have blocked some time early morning to prepare your product demo to all the POs and stakeholders on Friday. At 10 am you have a meeting with Sweden as they have a special request for data and wonder if you can help them. 11 am is your bi-weekly with the enterprise data architect, the latest SF release contains some new features and you want to explore opportunities to use them. Then Lunch and time for answering some emails before you have a meeting with our UK market, they have an AI use case and you want to explore if we can collaborate. As the new sprint is approaching you have a meeting planned with the PO Data Dictionary and a business stakeholder to finalize a metric definition. The one consistent factor in your agenda is the daily team standup at 15:30 CET (as part of the team is based in the United States). After the standup, you work on the backlog and tickets in Jira.
your background
You have been working in an operational role in the staffing industry and are looking for a change. In your operational role, you’ve always used data as a basis for your decision-making. You have managed people and projects. Or you might come from an IT background and have experience as a BI manager or Product Owner.
Your team members, peers and stakeholders are spread across countries and time zones. That’s why we’re looking for someone who thrives in a diverse cultural environment, and has a demonstrated flexibility in communication skills to be successful in the international context of this role.
