About the position:
As a Data Analyst, you are not just charged with analyzing and interpreting data, but also to bring business strategies to life through end-to-end delivery, monitoring and measuring their impact. You will spend time gathering, mining, and visualizing data, evaluating results and storytelling your insights through presentations. Much of the job will involve evaluating credit risk data and help Senior Management build out credit underwriting strategies that achieve loan originations and loan loss business objectives. You will be working in a team, collaborating with others in analytics, credit risk, and upper management. You will work with tools like SQL to join and extract raw data, Excel to transform and refine data, and use spreadsheets and business intelligence tools to organize information, along with other modern analytics tools. We work in agile, cross-functional teams, so you also can learn from other job families like data science, IT and credit risk.
A regular day for you would look like this:
- Mine data to discover key insights
- Ensure the data infrastructure is optimized to meet departmental objectives
- Run queries that efficiently extract data from databases
- Determine analytics required for different business cases
- Analyze and interpret data to help make business decisions
- Compile data into meaningful reporting
- Present results of analysis to senior managers
- Act as key technical contact for internal and external partners when developing predictive models
- Manage documentation of data attributes and data sources in a concise way to support model/strategy development/maintenance and reporting.
- Carefully document processes
- Assist with the configuration and administration of operational cloud-based platforms using business logic when required
- Perform QA testing to ensure logic is working properly and to ensure data integrity
- Proactively assess data anomalies that may affect reporting and analytical conclusions
Must-haves!
- Minimum 1 years' experience working as a data analyst or equivalent.
- Analytically oriented: Experience in analytical problem-solving.
- Advanced Excel skills, comfortable working with complex formulas
- Comfortable writing basic code in SQL and understanding of relational databases.
- Knowledge of SQL jobs and stored procedures
- Experience with business intelligence & data visualization platforms
- Experience in data maintenance
- Self-starter and independent problem solver
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Extra-awesome to have:
- Experience working in a financial institution or in credit risk
- Basic proficiency in R or Python and interested in growing these skills
