Job Description
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Data Analyst collaborates with the Demand Management team to design, deliver, and maintain robust, data-driven solutions that drive informed decision-making and optimize marketing strategies. This role focuses on leveraging advanced analytics to elevate the bank's digital and brand marketing capabilities while ensuring the highest quality standards in data processes and reporting. It emphasizes cutting-edge analytical approaches, including attribution modelling, media mix modelling, and customer journey analysis, using tools like Python, SAS, Power BI, Tableau, and modern cloud platforms. The Senior Data Analyst partners with key stakeholders to ensure insights are actionable and aligned with business goals.
By fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing, this role plays a pivotal part in shaping the bank's marketing analytics capabilities to deliver maximum value.

Advanced Marketing Analytics
- Attribution Modelling: Develop multi-touch attribution models to understand the impact of various channels (digital, social media, offline) on conversions and app downloads.
- Media Mix Modelling: Create statistical models to optimize the allocation of marketing budgets across channels, maximizing ROI and ensuring an optimal balance between brand-building and performance marketing activities.
- Customer Journey Analytics: Map and analyse end-to-end customer journeys, identifying pain points and opportunities to enhance engagement, retention, and lifetime value.
- Personalization Insights: Collaborate with the marketing team to create hyper-personalized customer segments based on behaviour, demographics, and preferences, enabling tailored campaigns.
Data Strategy for Digital and Brand Marketing
- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines for ingesting and processing real-time marketing data, including campaign performance, web analytics, and social media metrics.
- Partner with the Head of Data to design scalable data products that enable advanced analytics for marketing effectiveness and strategic planning.
- Align marketing KPIs and analytics strategies with broader organizational objectives to provide consistent performance measurement.
Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics
- Implement predictive models to forecast campaign performance, customer acquisition rates, and churn likelihood.
- Leverage prescriptive analytics to recommend optimal marketing actions, such as targeting strategies, content timing, and budget reallocation.
Data Visualization and Reporting
- Build dynamic and intuitive dashboards that provide marketing teams with real-time visibility into campaign performance, customer behaviour, and ROI metrics.
- Standardize reporting formats and visualizations for consistent communication of insights across business units.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Mentor junior analysts in advanced statistical techniques, marketing analytics frameworks, and data visualization best practices.
- Advocate for a data-driven culture within the marketing and demand management teams, championing the adoption of innovative technologies and methodologies.
Innovation and Research
- Stay ahead of industry trends, such as AI-driven analytics, to introduce innovative solutions for campaign optimization and customer engagement.
- Research and integrate external datasets (e.g., market trends, competitor benchmarks) to enhance analysis.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- Matric
- Degree in Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (SQL, Python, R, SAS, AWS, Power BI).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning and development.
Proven experience in:
Retail Banking or Financial Services
- Demonstrated understanding of retail banking products, services, and customer behavior, particularly within digital marketing and brand contexts.
Marketing Analytics and Campaign Performance
- Proven track record of analysing and optimizing digital marketing campaigns, including experience with metrics such as CTR, CPA, conversion rates, and ROI. Ability to interpret performance data to provide actionable recommendations for campaign and brand strategy adjustments.
Data Manipulation and Analysis in SQL, Python, or R
- Strong experience with data extraction, cleaning, and transformation in SQL and scripting languages such as Python or R. Ability to handle large datasets and derive insights that support digital marketing goals
Business Requirements Identification
Proactively collect business requirements using a variety of methods such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, and workflow analysis to express the requirements in terms of target user roles and goals, in order to garner the "why" of the requirements and the benefits of such requirements.
Data Exploration & Manipulation
Conduct research and select relevant information to enable testing, experimental adjustustment and analysis of key themes and trends using primary data sources and business intelligence tools. Coordinates data exploration and manipulation input to strategic projects where integrated data sets are required.
Advanced Analytics
Run advanced analyses and perform model assessments, validation, and enhancement activities, using software tools and functionalities.
Performance Improvement through Business Intelligence
Make recommendations to improve data and analytics systems and platforms, contributing to the continuous improvement and refinement of data and analytics strategy by conducting root cause analyses.
Insights and Reporting
Prepare and coordinate the completion of various data and analytics reports. Generates and test hypotheses and provide measurable and actionable insights and presents dashboards to stakeholders in presentations.
Data Architecture
Consult and educate stakeholders on methods for streamlining and standardizing data recording to ensure quality and accuracy.
Data Collection and Analysis
Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
Personal Capability Building
Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant industry best practices, business acumen, and broadening of individual skills such as presentation, communication and visualisation through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
