Analytics Engineer Co-op/Internship (Summer & Fall 2025)

The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a co-op student/intern to support projects and initiatives being implemented as part of our Data and Analytics strategy for the Summer and Fall 2025 work term.

The co-op/intern will work within our Corporate Data & Operations department as part of the Data & Analytics team. This is a great opportunity for you to learn and apply your knowledge to support the implementation of strategy, projects, and services to the corporation.  As part of your work, you will help to support change management activities related to these initiatives.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

The Corporate Data & Operations department delivers centralized, corporate business services that require partnership and integration across BCI departments. This role will work in the Data and Analytics team, which delivers analytics solutions (e.g. reports and dashboards), curated re-usable datasets, data science, data platforms, and data governance.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Supporting the implementation of Data and Analytics projects and initiatives

• Creating reports and dashboards using Power BI and SQL

• Creating re-usable curated datasets using SQL

• Work with Data and Analytics team to drive data literacy across BCI

• Liaise with business areas relative to front office pod allocations

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Exhibit a high level of professionalism and excellent interpersonal skills

• Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy, excellent product quality, and attention to detail

• Has an interest in data, a dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn

• Ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook and familiarity using Microsoft 365 tools such as One Drive, SharePoint Online, and MS Teams considered an asset

• Familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI

• Ability to read and write basic code scripts in SQL

• Competitive pay: Mid / Back Office: $2,260.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,090.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salary ($2,260.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) a graduate degree or joining the Investment Strategy & Risk department and $2,090.00 gross biweekly for those with (or working towards) an undergraduate degree, diploma, or certificate)Travel: if coming to Vancouver for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your location

THE DETAILS

• Work term: Summer & Fall 2025 (May – December)

• Department: Corporate Data & Operations

• Office Location: 666 Burrard Street, Vancouver, BC

• Spend your off hours exploring beautiful Vancouver and Lower Mainland, BC

• This co-op/internship will need to be completed in person at our Vancouver office. In line with our 4 and 1 hybrid program, the successful candidate would be expected to be in the office Tuesday to Thursday and either Monday or Friday per week. Please note, some positions are not eligible for hybrid work.
