The GenAI Lighthouse team within KTI consists of innovators and problem solvers committed to empowering KONE with the capabilities of GenAI. We collaborate closely with KONE’s business teams to identify and address their needs, utilizing GenAI to develop solutions that are both pioneering and practical. Our objective is to drive innovation and efficiency, thereby enabling KONE to maintain its leadership position in the industry.

Summer Trainee, GenAI Engineer  

For the GenAI Lighthouse team in Espoo 

Are you fascinated by the potential of Generative AI to solve complex problems and create innovative solutions? As a GenAI Engineer Trainee in KONE’s GenAI Lighthouse team, you will dive deep into the latest AI technologies to design and develop applications that transform the way we work. You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to build prototypes and scalable solutions that empower KONE to maintain its leadership in innovation. 

The position is based in Espoo, with the possibility of conducting some work remotely. We are seeking a student to work for three months between May and September 2025, depending on availability and preference.

We hope you have: 

• Currently in your third year or higher of university studies, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, or a related field. 

• Project experience in programming languages Python, and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) 

• A strong grasp of version-control concepts such as experience with Git, Continuous Integration/Continuous deployment (CI/CD), Docker and Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) frameworks. 

• An understanding of foundational AI concepts, including NLP (natural language processing), computer vision, or similar. 

• An interest in Generative AI technologies like GPT models, fine-tuning, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). 

• Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and the ability to experiment and iterate quickly. 

• Excellent English communication skills, with strong collaboration abilities to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
