Who We Are

Founded in 2017, Unit8 is a fast-growing Swiss AI and data analytics consulting and services company dedicated to solving complex problems of traditional industries like automotive, chemical, financial services, manufacturing and pharma. These are some examples of projects that we have been working on

• Building a real-time production line monitoring system for the pharmaceutical industry in order to improve the throughput of the production processes for the Pharmaceutical Industry. Technologies: AWS, EKS, CloudFormation, Docker, Python
• Building system for calculating and delivering global climate scores i.e. estimating the impact of climate change on the risk of natural disasters (i.e. floods, wildfires & droughts) for the Insurance Industry. Technologies: PySpark, Python, Proprietary Data Processing Platform
• Building a modern data science platform including a data lake for Chemical Industry. Technologies: Azure, ML Studio, Data Factory, Databricks, Spark

After 7 years of accelerated growth within the Swiss market and strong traction in the DACH region (Daimler, Merck to name a few customers) - Unit8 is looking to establish a substantial presence in Germany. The purpose of the role is to be part of an efficient team that will drive our growth, solve our customers' problems and support them in becoming a data-driven company.

About you

• You are fluent in German and English (mandatory)
• MSc level in the field of Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
• You are a proficient software engineer who has experience in applying a blend of software engineering, machine learning, and statistical methods to solve real-world business problems
• You are proficient in one of the following languages: Python, Scala, Java.
• Experience with cloud technologies is a strong plus.
• Pragmatic attitude; you are not afraid in taking an active part in the engineering aspects of projects.
• Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fields.
• You understand the value of teamwork.
• You have strong client-facing skills: comfortable interacting with clients (business & technical audience), delivering presentations, problem-solving mindset.
• You are willing to travel to meet with our clients and the team (mainly in Europe - up to 10% of your time).

What you’ll do

• Depending on the project, the role may involve working on diverse areas such as cloud engineering and infrastructure, data engineering and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load), as well as machine learning and data science.
• Work with our customers to understand their challenges, design and implement solutions.
• Closely collaborate with other data scientists, software engineers and business stakeholders.
• Evaluate, compare and present results to technical and non-technical audience.
• Contribute to the implementation and engineering of systems at different scales: from small proof-of-concepts to larger end-to-end data systems.
• Implement best practices in CI/CD.
