Job Description:

The Data Engineer Manger will provide critical infrastructure for analytical support and solution development for the broader Enterprise using market leading tools and methodologies. In this role, you will harness your expertise in dimensional modeling and advanced data engineering skills to create and deliver robust BI solutions and data products, catering to the needs of our internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in data modeling, infrastructure development, and will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the Enterprise Analytics Platform to support data-driven decision-making across the organization. Success in this role requires a strong interest in analysis, best practice knowledge, critical thinking, problem-solving, as well as excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and presentation skills. Responsibilities
  • Develop, optimize and standard data pipelines (ADF, Data Factory, Python), create robust data models for data publishing while complying with, and adding value to the data architecture.
  • Perform data model design, data formatting, and ETL/ELT development (SQL) optimized for efficient storage, access, and computation to serve various use cases.
  • Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of end-to-end Business Intelligence solutions with Microsoft’s BI Stack (MS Fabric, Power BI, Synapse etc.).
  • Participate in the analysis, design, and development of systems, including logical and physical data modeling, database design, database creation, and evaluation of data and information requirements for new applications and reports.
  • Work with technical and business teams to understand KPIs and Metrics towards building the semantic layer and ensuring that the data is available within the data warehouse.
  • Collaborate with the team to evaluate business needs and priorities, consult with key business partners and address team needs related to data systems and management.
  • Mentor Junior Data Engineers to ensure alignment and adherence to best practices and design principles.
  • Provide consultation regarding data platform terminology, concepts, and best practices.
  • Provide on-going support for consistent, accurate, and complete data requirements, models, and definitions.
  • Accountable for data engineering design decisions that impact solution usability, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Ensure completeness of all data platform artifacts, including technical business requirements, technical design, completed code, and implementation.
  • Ensure the highest level of security for accessing and distribution of data.
  • Troubleshoot production support issues post deployment and produce solutions as required.
  • Assist the Product Owner in identifying and estimating data platform engineering tasks.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications; establish and define details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components, and enhancements.
  • Participate in project planning in Azure DevOps; identifying milestones, deliverables and resource requirements tracks activities and task execution.
  • Prioritize work in alignment with business objectives and strategies and think like an entrepreneur when addressing various client challenges.
  • Continuously learn about new and existing system processes, apply methodologies, evaluate vendor solutions versus internal applications and platforms to improve Data team’s processes
  • Work with Microsoft Fabric to build and manage modern data infrastructure platform in a medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold), leveraging PySpark and other Notebook-based approaches.
  • Document processes, data flows, and architecture to ensure system transparency and maintainability.

Requirements
  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency and knowledge of databases (on-prem or cloud), querying data using SQL, Python, Power Query, or other comparable languages.
  • Working Knowledge of Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory).
  • Substantial experience with data modeling, ETL processes, as well as advanced understanding of dimensional modelling.
  • Proficient in integrating data from various sources, including cloud-based platforms via API. Strong understanding of cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience with Postman, SSAS Tabular, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit, and/or Tabular Editor (2 or 3) a plus.
  • Familiarity with Power BI semantic modelling, machine learning and advanced analytics a plus.
  • Expert skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A good understanding of the agile development cycle and familiarity with Smartsheet or Azure DevOps preferred.
  • Stay updated and up to speed with regards to new features, techniques, findings, and best practices emergent for core platforms.
  • As required, work after-hours and during maintenance periods.
  • Limited travel required to perform job duties (< 5%).

Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields.
  • 6+ years of technology experience in data integration, ETL/ELT development and database design with Microsoft Data Platform and Microsoft technology stack.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience on implementing data processing using Azure services like ADLS, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Cosmos DB, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL DB, Azure Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Functions, Azure Analysis Service, Databricks etc.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in developing, and successfully operationalizing complex/large scale data management projects.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Scripting and ability to write both simple and complex SQL Queries.
  • 2+ years of experience with Python (or other programming languages).
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and M language.
  • 1+ years of experience working with Delta Lake or Apache Spark (Fabric or Databricks).
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment and supporting enterprise data.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with people from different disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn new platforms and tools.
  • Hands on experience or certification with Microsoft Fabric preferred.

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,400.00 - $204,100.00 per year.
