Position Highlights

The Vessel Data Engineer will be responsible for collecting and interfacing data vendors, selecting optimal storage infrastructure between existing, automating data processes, and creating APIs for data access. 
The Vessel Data Engineer interpret business requirements and write detailed technical specifications to guide the development and implementation of data solutions.

Main responsibilities:

• Collaborate with data vendors to ensure accurate and timely data collection. 
• Develop and maintain data interfaces to streamline data flow. 
• Evaluate and select appropriate storage solutions based on business needs and technical requirements. 
• Implement and manage data storage systems for efficiency and scalability. 
• Establish data processing workflows to enhance operational efficiency. 
• Automate data collection and processing tasks using best practices and tools. 
• Create and manage APIs to provide secure and efficient access to data storage solutions. 
• Ensure APIs are well-documented and easy to use for internal and external stakeholders. 
• Engage with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements. 
• Translate business needs into actionable technical specifications.
• Write detailed technical specifications and documentation for data processes and solutions. 
• Provide regular updates and reports on data initiatives to stakeholders.

Main requirements:

• Minimum 4-5 proven experience in data engineering, data management, or a similar role 
• Experience with data collection tools and ETL processes. 
• Strong understanding of data storage solutions (e.g., SQL, cloud storage). 
• Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python) and API development. 
• BA degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
