About This Role
We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer with hands-on expertise in energy markets to join our Market Data team. This is a role where data pipelining meets domain expertise. At Dexter, we’re on a mission to transform renewable energy trading, and our Market Data team is at the heart of this transformation.
In this role, you will collaborate with different teams and contribute to high-impact solutions across several key areas:
Market Data Ingestion: Ingesting market data from external sources like TenneT, Elia, etc., and ensuring its accuracy and reliability.
Data Validation & Transformation: Retrieving, validating, and transforming data to make it available for internal product teams, primarily trading and flexibility optimization teams.
Data Pipelining: Designing and maintaining pipelines that move data efficiently while understanding its content and implications.
Domain Expertise: Bringing a deep understanding of market data and its nuances to ensure optimal integration with our AI-driven tools.
This role isn’t just about moving data from point A to point B; it’s about understanding what’s in that data and how it can drive impactful outcomes for our business, add value to our customers, and as a result foster a cleaner and greener environment.

Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, DBT, BigQuery, Redis, and Pub/Sub.
Develop solutions for managing energy market data efficiently and at scale.
Work with data warehousing concepts, including data modeling, data quality, and data governance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure market data is accurate, reliable, and actionable.
Stay on the cutting edge of market data trends and technologies.
Requirements
About You
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or BI Engineer.
Extensive experience with Python, DBT, BigQuery, Redis, Pub/Sub, and GKE.
Knowledge of short-term power markets and experience working with market data. Ideally, you’ve worked with trading data in a company in the power trading domain.
The ability to work on data pipelines and contribute meaningful insights based on domain knowledge.
Familiarity with tools such as Apache Beam, Dataflow, Flink, Spark, and REST APIs.
Experience with data visualization or BI tools like Lightdash, Looker, or Power BI is a bonus.
A strong communicator who brings energy and excitement to the team.
