Group Audit and Assurance (GA&A) is the internal audit function for the Group that provides independent and objective assurance of the effectiveness of the Groups risk management, controls and governance processes. GA&A is increasingly embedding digital assurance into audit activities, injecting Artificial Intelligence (AI) into routine control testing and using digital tools to improve the overall experience for employees. With global-best digital tools that harness the power of data, analytics and AI, GA&A are delivering smarter, faster and safer outcomes to address current and emerging risks and provide better assurance outcomes for our customers and community.
Do work that matters
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer Group Audit and Assurance, you would lead the GA&A Analytics & AI - Centre of Excellence to drive high quality audit analytics outcomes by advancing the use of analytics and data science within GA&A. You would ensure the 30+ audit analytics resources have the tools, methodology, training and quality oversight they need to provide high quality insights to senior stakeholders. You would work across the three lines of accountability (3LOA) to improve the overall risk management across the Group..

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll:
- Shape and drive the strategic direction for analytics and data science within the department.
- Provide thought leadership on emerging opportunities and risks associated with analytics and data science.
- Partner with the GA&A teams to effectively utilise analytics resources and drive increased use of Analytics and Data Science within the Audit process.
- Create trust with senior stakeholders across GA&A in the value of analytics and its applicability to the audit process.
- Support the development of AI enabled digital assets that leverage emerging technologies and industry best practices.
- Maintain high quality standards for audit analytics output through effective quality assurance and technical review.
- Support the roll-out of training programs across GA&A to uplift staff capability and hire analytics and data science talent into the Audit team.
- Evolve analytics & AI methodology to meet the needs of GA&A.
- Drive high performance by taking accountability and leading audit team members to achieve GA&A strategic targets and goals.
- Foster a culture of innovation and agile ways of working.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Extensive experience in a senior analytics or data science role, preferably in an Audit or Risk domain.
- Demonstrated expert knowledge of analytical code, tools and techniques (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Tableau, EDA packages and open source frameworks in Generative AI).
- Demonstrated track record of problem-solving using data science expertise, and in-depth knowledge of cutting-edge AI techniques in Generative AI, prompt engineering and LLMs.
- Hands-on experience in developing, implementing or validating models.
- Excellent stakeholder management and adaptive leadership skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts using simple language.
- Tenacity, persistence and personal resilience during time of change.
- Demonstrable experience with influencing and driving outcomes at scale with a proactive risk-mindset.
- Driven by solutions not problems when operating with an Agility mindset.
- Experience building and developing high performance technical teams.

Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of innovative tools, scalable platforms and process frameworks as a technology driven banking organization. This means our people managers are technology leaders that will lead, manage, empower and inspire a diverse group of data scientists with various strengths and broad range of skillsets.
We do not expect you to have managed teams working with all of these, but having experience and exposure with leading teams that specialise in some of these (or equivalents) is encouraged.
- Team management and direct people management
- Experience in conducting research
- Technical experience in Machine Learning / Deep Learning / Gen AI
- Teradata, H2O.ai, Hadoop, R , Python, Gen AI frameworks & tools
- Deep experience or exposure one of the core areas of Audits, risk, including leading largely diverse group of auditing teams and crews in a similar environment
