About the job

Are you passionate about OT solutions which includes industrial automation, connected equipment and data analytics? The Automation and Robotics team within Operations Development, is reinforcing with an OT Specialist / Automation Engineer. In this role you will be an important member of a central development team with global responsibility.

OD Automation & Robotics team work within machine control, connected equipment, robotics, machine learning and new automation technologies - all to increase automation quality and efficiency within Alfa Laval Operations. Your role will be developing OT solutions in close cooperation with manufacturing units and product development.

Key responsibilities for this role include :

  • Lead technical initiatives and projects within Operations Technology and Development (automation, robotics, simulation, data logging/analytics, AI, ML etc).
  • Innovate, develop, verify and implement new equipment, technologies and processes.
  • Develop solutions to connect existing equipment to new systems.
  • Develop and implement tools and methods within industrial automation to improve Alfa Laval Operations
  • Initiate and participate in internal networks to develop the Automation/OT area.

The position is based in Lund, and you will report to an Operations Development Manager. The role may involve travelling up to 30 days per year.

Who you are

As a person, you are driven, curious, enthusiastic and a committed problem solver with good communicating skills, a great technical interest and open minded to new technology. You have a strategic perspective in combination with good practical skills. You are a team player experienced working in projects and motivated by both finding solutions and executing projects, with a good diplomatic sense.
 

What you know

  • A technical degree within Automation, Electrical engineering or similar

  • At least 5-7 years of relevant experience from manufacturing industries, with a good understanding of system design, automation technologies and commissioning of equipment

  • Deep understanding of product development, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain processes

  • Prior experience of architecting & developing smart factory software solutions

  • Rockwell and Siemens control system knowledge is a must

  • Ability to establish effective working relationships in a team environment

  • Ability to lead yourself and minor projects

  • Excellent in writing, verbal presentation, and interpersonal communication is required

Skills and qualifications to your advantage

  • AVEVA SCADA/MES and database knowledge (MS Server, Oracle)

  • Experience in Machine vision technologies (SICK, Cognex, Micro Epsilon, IFM, Datalogic etc)

  • Familiar with Machine Learning & feature engineering concepts

  • Hands on experience in OOP (VS Code, Python, .NET platform etc.)

  • ABB robotics and Robot Studio knowledge

  • Comfortable in using version handling software such as git etc.
