Software Engineer II

Bing Multimedia is dedicated to developing the world's leading video and image search product, used by millions of people daily. We innovate by advancing cutting-edge techniques in statistics, information retrieval, data mining, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), multimodal technologies, UX frameworks, and distributed systems. We need a skilled Software Engineer II to lead in areas like large-scale data processing, advanced training techniques, and feature engineering. You'll handle complex tasks and drive projects from start to finish, involving idea generation, collaboration with partner teams, and managing execution and deployment details. We seek experienced engineers ready to contribute to Bing Multimedia.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and deliver full features, covering design, architecture, implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment.
• Keep up with industry trends and security standards to guide foundational service designs.
• Work with Product Managers, Designers, Architects, and stakeholders on end-to-end service design.
• Lead design and code reviews to maintain high quality.
• Focus on live site and operational excellence.
• Align the team’s engineering strategy with organizational goals and adhere to best practices.
• Develop high-quality cloud-based solutions using an agile methodology.
• Ensure all projects deliver agreed business value, meet deadlines, and maintain top quality.
• Make sure all features follow engineering best practices, have scalable architecture, elegant design, and high-quality implementation.
• Comply with security, accessibility, GDPR, and performance standards.
• Use customer and production data for technical design and implementation decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience.
    

Preferred Qualifications:

• Great problem solving and analytical skills.
• Well versed with DevOps practices.
• Excellent communicator, capable of building and maintaining relationships with various Microsoft teams.
• Related experiences in search/recommendation algorithms, Big data analytics are big pluses.
• Knowledge on cloud development and micro-services serverless functions is a plus.
• Experience with web technologies: JavaScript (incl. React, Angular, or Vue), XHTML/HTML5, CSS.
• A working knowledge of CI and CD pipelines in a development cycle.
