- The Senior Business Analyst role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and designing technology-based business solutions to solve complex business problems. They work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand business processes, workflows, data models, and other system artifacts. This role identifies opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements and is responsible for developing functional and technical specifications that define system requirements and articulate how systems will meet business goals. The incumbent is also responsible for applying system settings and options, as well as planning and executing testing to ensure new or modified systems meet business requirements. The incumbent is knowledgeable of software development lifecycle methodologies and has a strong understanding of system testing and quality assurance principles. They have experience with database management, SQL, web development technologies, and packaged software applications. They will conduct process modeling and requirements gathering and leverage this technical expertise to develop and evaluate third-party solutions or technologies that support business process improvements. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that system documentation, such as process diagrams, data dictionaries, user manuals, and training materials, are accurate and up-to-date. They will also continually monitor system metrics such as uptime, response times, and error rates to drive system optimization and performance improvements.
What The Role Will Do
- Conduct requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders and subject matter experts to develop journey maps and personas to ultimately identify business challenges and opportunities
- Analyze and document business processes, workflows, data models, and other artifacts to capture the current and future states of business systems
- Develop functional and technical specifications for new or modified systems, processes, and procedures to meet business requirements
- Partner with software developers, data analysts, and testers to ensure new systems or changes to existing systems meet the defined business requirements, are delivered timely, and within budget
- Apply system settings and options to meet business goals supporting the planning and execution of system testing
- Evaluate and recommend existing third-party solutions or technologies to support business process improvements
- Continuously update and maintain system documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness, such as process diagrams, data dictionaries, user manuals, and training materials
- Analyze system metrics, such as uptime, response times, and error rates, to recommend system optimization and performance improvements
- Continuously monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to identify potential opportunities to improve existing business systems and processes
- Conduct or support training sessions for end-users, as needed
This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.
This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Required Qualifications
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or information systems, or in lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in the field of business systems analysis or IT (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of business systems analysis or IT)
Knowledge & Experience
- 4-6 years of experience in business systems analysis and design with a deep understanding of software development methodologies
- In-depth knowledge of business and technical operations, workflows, and procedures
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders and vice versa
- In-depth knowledge of tools, techniques, and leading practices related to data analysis, coding, and automation
- In-depth knowledge of database structures and data management principles
- Extensive Experience in Data Conversion Projects: Proven track record of successfully managing and executing data conversion projects, including data migration and integration.
- ETL Process Expertise: Deep understanding and hands-on experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, including designing, developing, and optimizing ETL workflows.
- Data Validation and Quality Assurance: Strong background in data validation techniques and quality assurance practices to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring, often with certifications like PMP or CBAP.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the process manufacturing model & batch production workflows, with a focus on chemical/coatings products, helps in understanding business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in SQL and Database Management: Advanced skills in SQL for querying and managing databases, as well as experience with database management systems like Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL.
- Experience with ETL Tools: Hands-on experience with ETL tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Microsoft SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services).
- Data Analysis and Business Intelligence: Proficiency in data analysis and business intelligence tools like Tableau, Power BI, or BusinessObjects to create insightful reports and dashboards.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software Products: Hands-on experience working with tools in the formulation recipe management space (ex: BOM, Instructions, QC Specifications, Properties, Remarks, etc.)
- Programming Skills: Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Technical Documentation and Communication: Strong skills in creating technical documentation and effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
Preferred Skills
- Education
- Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT)
- Proficient in SQL.
- Strong Working knowledge of R&D and Process Manufacturing Systems and Processes
- Ability to work in staging tables to transform data from one source system to another source system.
