To establish its strategy and monitor the progress of its decarbonization initiatives, the organization has been conducting an annual greenhouse gas inventory with the support of an external partner since 2022. The company would like to internalize certain areas of expertise to be more agile and improve data management and quality.
We are seeking a GHG Data Analyst Intern to support the collection, management, and analysis of GHG data, assisting in the calculation of emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3. This internship will provide hands-on experience in GHG inventory processes and contribute to the development of GHG assessment tools. You will work closely with other business units to ensure the accuracy and quality of the data used in the organization’s sustainability efforts, while learning about industry standards and reporting frameworks.
Responsibilities
Assist in collecting, managing, and analyzing data related to GHG emissions (Scope 1, 2, and 3) to support the annual GHG inventory process.
Contribute to the development of methodologies for calculating GHG emissions in line with recognized standards and organizational guidelines.
Support the preparation of internal and external reports on GHG emissions, decarbonization progress, and sustainability efforts.
Assist in identifying opportunities for improving the reliability and accuracy of GHG data, working with cross-functional teams.
Contribute to the deployment of GHG emissions quantification tools and process within the organization.
Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sustainable Development, or a related field.
Basic understanding of GHG emissions and sustainability practices, including GHG inventories.
Basic skills in data management and use of data analysis or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel).
Familiarity with the GHG Protocol Corporate standard and the GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard is a plus.
Interest in learning about GHG quantification tools and frameworks like the GLEC Framework or Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
Strong attention to detail and interest in developing efficient data collection and analysis processes.
Problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Bilingual (French and English) – written and spoken.
