The data engineer is a critical role in growing the data maturity of the lab organization at UL Solutions. The candidate will be a part of a multidisciplinary team of software developers, data scientists, and architects working toward developing data solutions for the lab. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing. Sources may come from disparate data types including legacy databases and documents using popular open-source software. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product, technology teams, and management to design and validate the capabilities of the data platform. This position requires a proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in data processing and orchestration.

- As a data engineer, you will be a part of a multidisciplinary team of software developers, data scientists, and architects working toward developing data solutions for the lab.
- The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing. Sources may come from disparate data types including legacy databases and documents
- Own the end-to-end ingest and egress frameworks for data pipelines that stitch together various data sources to produce valuable data products that drive the business
- Partner with operations, product, and engineering teams to advocate best practices and build data solutions for the various needs
- Design and roadmap UL's data maturity

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field  
- 3+ years of experience with common data engineering tools such Airflow, Spark, Snowflake...etc.  
- 3+ years experience with creating ETL/ELT pipelines  
- 3+ years in Python and SQL  
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams
- Read and follow UL Solution's Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices  
- Performs other duties as directed.

Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Azure or AWS, containerization, and associated tooling
- Knowledge of data & visualization tools, such as PowerBI
- Proficiency working in a Linux environment
- Proficiency with version control using Git/Github

  • Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 to $120,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 10% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
