Purpose of Job

The Load and Market Analytics Lead will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive data analytics ecosystem and solutions to support the entire Renewable Energy value chain. This role requires a blend of data analytics expertise, business acumen, and the ability to work in ambiguous and evolving environments. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a track record of setting up infrastructure and processes that enable teams to make data-driven decisions, optimize production, and drive sales.

Key Accountabilities

1. Data Analytics & Business Intelligence:

- Develop and implement data analytics strategies to drive insights across the energy generation, consumptions and sales value chain. - Utilize advanced data analytics techniques to forecast demand, optimize generation schedules, and maximize sales value across multiple contracts.

2. Infrastructure Development:

- Design and establish digital infrastructure to collect, process, and analyze data from various sources. - Implement data management systems and tools that enable real-time decision-making.

3. Process Optimization:

- Create and refine processes that enhance operational efficiency and profitability. - Ensure alignment between data insights and business strategies to drive continuous improvement.

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

- Work closely with generation, Sasol own consumption, sales, finance, regulations and other key stakeholders to ensure data-driven decision-making. - Enable different functions to leverage data insights to improve their performance and achieve business goals.

5. Innovation and Strategy:

- Identify opportunities for innovation within the energy generation and sales domain. - Develop and execute strategies to explore and navigate new and undefined territories within the industry.

6. Leadership & Team Development:

- Build and lead a team of data analysts and business intelligence professionals. - Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning within the team.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Skills

- Proficient in data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI).

- Strong background in DevOps principles, app development (Django, React, JavaScript, html, python, SQL ), app deployment and hosting (Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure (Cloud), CI/CD)

- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data insights into strategic business decisions.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguous environments.

- Experience in working in agile environment applying agile/scrum practices to fast track development of MVP’s

- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
