Internship projects at Haemonetics vary depending on the needs of both the student and the business.
Haemonetics interns are assigned to meaningful projects within the company to acquire a variety of experiences, apply different skills, and learn what a future career might offer. This also contributes to our innovation agenda by completing business-critical projects and assignments.
The AI Technology Internship will be a hybrid role (3 days onsite / 2 days remote per week) based in our downtown Boston HQ located at 125 Summer St. The internship will run from June 2, 2025, to August 22, 2025, and is designed to provide hands-on experience while contributing to the development of innovative AI-powered solutions.
What You Will Do
We aim to explore novel AI technologies to advance our TEG6S system and expand its applications in future business markets. Developing an innovative application and user interface platform powered by modern AI technology is essential to our mission. This project will focus on:
- Digitally capturing clinical TEG6S tracings.
- Analyzing and summarizing key data parameters.
- Creating intuitive summaries, decision-support algorithms, and user interfaces to benefit both clinical and non-clinical users.
Key Responsibilities Include:
AI-Powered Application Development:
- Conceptualize and design an app using AI tools (e.g., Meta AI, ChatGPT, or other platforms) to capture and analyze clinical TEG6S data.
- Develop a user-friendly interface capable of handling diverse data sets while offering clear, actionable insights.
- Integrate advanced AI algorithms to optimize usability and provide comprehensive clinical and operational support.
Data Analysis and Visualization:
- Review and analyze clinical TEG6S tracings to identify core features and parameters.
- Create dynamic visualizations and summaries, including decision tree algorithms, to make complex data more accessible to users.
Prototype Development:
- Deliver a working prototype—MetaTEG—that combines cutting-edge AI capabilities with intuitive design.
- Support the long-term vision of creating an intelligent assistant capable of addressing a wide range of questions about the TEG system.
Education/Skills:
Education
- Undergraduate or graduate student with a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or an equivalent field, OR a Medical School background with experience in AI-related projects.
- Coursework in machine learning, AI tools, or biomedical data analysis strongly preferred.
- Proficient programming skills in Python or R; familiarity with AI frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or OpenAI API.
- Knowledge of user interface/experience (UI/UX) design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) is a plus.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on complex data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-directed, energetic, and eager to tackle new challenges and innovative projects.
- Previous experience or a strong interest in the medical field is preferred.
