Job Description:

GDIT Technology Share Solutions (TSS) is seeking a Cloud Data Engineer (Azure) for the Indian Health Service Four Directions Datawarehouse (IHS 4DW) project. 

IHS, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services, is the principal federal health care provider and health advocate for American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people. This role supports the mission critical modernization effort of retiring its resource and patient management system (RPMS) and moving to a new electronic health record system (EHR) system.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

  • Lead the modernization of IHS health records by establishing a central repository for clinical data and longitudinal patient records
  • Design and implement Azure data pipelines to consolidate clinical data from 200+ healthcare facilities into an enterprise analytics environment
  • Develop automated ETL processes for high-volume JSON/HL7 FHIR data using Azure Data Factory and Data Lake
  • Create and optimize PySpark processes for large-scale healthcare data transformation
  • Build and maintain enterprise data models to standardize clinical information across facilities
  • Implement monitoring solutions to ensure data quality and pipeline performance
  • Provide technical leadership on cloud architecture best practices

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree and 1+ years of experience or equivalent years of experience
  • Ability to take the lead as a big data engineer on a database migration and data pipelines using Azure
  • Extensive experience with Azure data services including Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, and Spark Clusters
  • Proficiency in SQL and data modeling for enterprise-scale databases
  • Strong programming in Python (PySpark), and .NET for large-scale data processing
  • Experience developing Infrastructure as Code and RESTful APIs in Azure
  • Track record of implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Must be able to obtain a public trust level 5 clearance, which requires residency in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years.

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Relevant Azure certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203), Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), and Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
  • Experience in healthcare data systems
  • Advanced PowerBI data visualization and development skills
  • Experience with HL7 FHIR implementation and healthcare data standards
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and team leadership
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field

The likely salary range for this position is $91,123 - $123,283. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
