Director, Quantitative Analytics and Data Science (QUADS) (Gurgaon, HR Practice)

About this Role

The Director, Quantitative Analytics and Data Science (QUADS) is an individual contributor role who works closely with researchers, advisors, and senior executives to produce research that solves complex business and HR challenges most critical to our clients on a global scale. This role reports into the Managing Vice President of Quantitative Research in Gartner’s Human Resources (HR) Practice.

This position is for an experienced researcher with strong quantitative research design skills. QUADS team members enjoy exposure to a full array of data work, including designing research and benchmarking surveys, statistical modeling, data management, data visualization, and quantitative insight generation. In addition to data work, QUADS team members work on a variety of research projects including Gartner’s signature research for executives, publications, live presentations, and webinars. These research projects will leverage the role holders skills including hypothesis generation and testing, developing research narratives, and drafting presentations and reports.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute our quantitative analytics strategy for aligned workstreams, in partnership with subject matter experts and practice leadership
  • Design and manage quantitative research, in a timely fashion, to solve the most critical challenges of HR leaders at large organizations.
  • Work together and communicate with a variety of teams including qualitative researchers, advisors, analysts, data managers, and senior leaders.
  • Identify and test research hypotheses with proprietary and external data.
  • Develop and sharpen key insights based on primary research.
  • Convert research and survey results into clear narratives and visually compelling internal and/or client-facing presentations with actionable recommendations
  • Lead production of research content shared directly with clients, like live presentations, webinars, and publications on Gartner.com.
  • Innovate on ways to drive data use/re-use, and connect research objectives to existing or new-to-world data
  • Serve as a critical thought partner to respective stakeholders to develop new research.
  • Lead major quantitative capability building initiatives for the HR practice.
  • Consult senior HR role content strategy leader (Role Champion) on role-specific data acquisition, quantitative research methodology, and content strategy decisions.
  • Engage, develop, and coach (in collaboration with their direct manager) a team of junior researchers on all aspects of quantitative research (including survey design, data analysis, and advanced quantitative methods) as well as tool and applications development. Help evaluate and elevate team members’ insights and ideas to ensure consumability, actionability, and relevance.

Skills and Qualifications Required

Education/Experience

  • Advanced degree (Master’s level or above) in an analytics-heavy field (e.g. Economics, Statistics, Policy Analysis, etc.)
  • 7+ years of practical experience, preferably in an analytics-relevant field (e.g., Economics, Policy Analysis, Statistics, Data Science)
  • Mastery in analyzing and visualizing data with at least one of the following languages/programs: Python, R, SPSS for advanced analytics (e.g., multivariate regressions, logistic regressions, cluster analysis, factor analysis, etc.)
  • Mastery of advanced survey and sample design and demonstrated record of relevant, practical application of survey design methods and ability to coach others on these
  • Demonstrated ability to build out and execute on analysis plans
  • Experience, and interest in, data science methodologies (e.g. NLP, machine learning, AI) is a plus
  • Experience in management consulting or business research roles is a plus
  • Experience coaching junior associates, including managing their projects and priorities.
  • Experience in HR terrain is a strong plus
