What you’ll be doing

CIBC's Marketing Data and Advanced Analytics (MDAA) Team  is responsible for supporting direct marketing efforts by driving and creating a culture of data-driven decision making across the teams. The team is at the centre of marketing strategy and innovation at CIBC, focused on driving growth, engagement and retention across our entire base. We work across different enterprise teams at CIBC helping them understand and serve our clients better

Reporting to the leader of Client Analytics & Insights of MDAA, the Senior Manager, Analytics will be an individual contributor on the team. As a senior member of MDAA team, the candidate will be accountable for supporting through analytics, reporting and consulting the needs of one/more of our Marketing stakeholders, Lines of Business and/or Channel partners. The candidate may be expected to support engagement for high-impact internal and cross-functional initiatives such as: CRTeX, Client Lifetime Value, Journey Analytics,  etc.

With  a focus on client value creation, the candidate is expected to lead and execute the integration of analytical results into business processes to drive business value. You will be detailed oriented, highly analytical, diligent and passionate about using data and insights to tell a powerful story. 

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.  You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Data and Analysis – Building meaningful analyses and reports around client profile, retention, value growth, franchising and contact strategy, tracking & analyzing of performance and behavior across all CIBC campaigns, products, channels and segments. Analyzing and gleaning insights from data using a multi-step approach including i) Ingest: sourcing the data, ii) Transform: prepare, clean, and transform the data, iii) Analyze: derive insights from the data and connect with past performance and business context iv) Storyboard & visualize analysis in a simple and memorable way to address diverse audiences.   
  • Thought Leadership – The bank is transforming and marketing is one of the key functions which are experiencing a paradigm shift. We work to apply best practices in marketing measurement and client analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence and leverage the latest in big data technology platforms. You will be a thought leader in working with new age marketing/analytical tools and techniques and a strong ability to drive and advocate change.
  • Relationship Building – Owning end-to-end a product and/or segment relationship by playing the role of a trusted consultant who truly understands priorities of our business partners and drivers of business and helps our business partners achieve goals. Working in close cooperation with other CIBC teams, participating, cooperating, and contributing to cross-functional project teams to drive process and performance improvements.
  • Strategy & Innovation – Proactively identifying process and practice improvement opportunities, building business cases, and influencing senior leaders to drive transformation. Identifying business problems where analytical techniques can be effectively applied to achieve core business objectives.  Developing Client Analytics & Insights team vision and plans, to support marketing management, opportunities &  optimization.

Who you are

  • You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You’re confident in your ability to communicate detailed information in an impactful way. You possess strong storytelling skills to effectively and simply communicate complex ideas
  • You can demonstrate extensive experience in developing, building and maintaining analysis and dashboards. You have the ability to work with large volumes of data to derive key trends, patterns, insights. You can demonstrate a strong understanding of analytical tools (SQL, Python, SAS) and techniques such as correlation, regression, segmentation, clustering, machine learning algorithm, etc. It is an asset to have a quantitative background or equivalent with a B.Sc. or above
  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.  
  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. You ask the right questions. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
