Data Quality Analyst

Summary/Objective 

Reviews laboratory reports generated within AST’s laboratory programs; validates correctness and completeness of data provided by field personnel

Essential Functions

• Reviews formal field data sheets and spreadsheets; performs quality assurance reviews for accuracy of data; signs/files completed reports and notifies project and report managers of completion
• Creates templates for field personnel to perform and document testing
• Researches information about respective projects to validate/enter limits and to properly format templates during the preparation/review process
• Confirms all equipment and gases used are calibrated and current
• Reaches out to the appropriate apartment when data is inaccurate or missing
• Identifies non-conformance issues in the laboratory and coordinates with the Quality Assurance Manager and Technical Director to rectify any issues; assists the Quality Assurance Manager with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other document development or updates
• Maintains the document master control list
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• EDUCATION REQUIREMENT – Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other science-related field preferred; may be offset by experience
• Level I – Entry level; some College/Associates Degree; Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other science-related field preferred; may be offset by experience; 6+ months of STEM or stack testing experience
• Level II – Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or other science-related field preferred; may be offset by experience; 5+ years of chemistry experience in a lab environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Intermediate skill level or above in Microsoft Suite, including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze and identify discrepancies in testing documentation and provide solutions/recommendations for resolution
• In-depth familiarity with Stack Testing, including protocol preparation, report preparation, data review, and agency interaction
• Fluent in test/lab methods performed for the applicable region/office
• Ability to communicate with associates and leaders

• Ability to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation

Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods and the use of hands to finger is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents.

No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs. of force may occasionally be required. While performing the duties of this job, good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, and copiers is needed.
