Magnite is hiring a Manager of Data Engineering to lead engineers who productionize and operationalize machine learning algorithms. This role requires a technical leader who digs large datasets and statistics and can communicate clearly across teams. This manager’s team works closely with data scientists, helping them scale applications to efficiently run on hundreds of billions of ad requests daily. The team takes on a variety of tasks including ad hoc analysis, internal reporting, experimental design, and revenue-critical production applications.
This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, data engineering, and data science. It collaborates with many teams in engineering and product management.
In this role you will:
Cost-efficiently productionize a new model from a prototype developed by a data scientist
Work closely with other teams to design a mechanism to A/B test that new model against an existing one
Deploy that model while ameliorating risk to existing revenue-critical systems
Enable reporting which demonstrates that the new model increases revenue
We’re looking for someone with:
2+ years of management experience, leading a software engineering team to deliver and support production-quality applications as a manager or lead engineer
Ability to hire, mentor and grow teams professionally
Proficiency in developing very large datasets with Spark, HDFS, and Kafka
Proficiency with Linux systems
Proficiency with SQL
Familiarity with statistics, linear algebra, and data science
1+ years’ experience in an online advertising company or a data-intensive business (such as financial services) would be a huge plus
Fluent in Python and Scala
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Leadership of geographically distributed teams
Experience with AWS, Airflow, Snowflake, DataBricks
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The base salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $165,000 - $195,000 per year. The starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable to their location.
