Job Description
As a Data Scientist specializing in discrete event simulation, you will design, develop, and implement simulation models to address complex industrial engineering challenges. Your work will directly contribute to the evolution of our software suite, enabling clients to simulate, analyze, and optimize their manufacturing processes in both front end and back end contexts. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will leverage your expertise in software development, data science, factory modeling, simulation, statistics and industrial engineering to deliver innovative and practical solutions.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Simulation model development
- Data analysis: develop methods of validation and verification of models
- Integrate simulation models with a data warehouse product
- Software development and integration (potential to use open source simulation tools or develop own engine)
- Algorithm design and optimization
- Research and innovation - stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in discrete event simulation and industrial engineering.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance simulation capabilities.
Required qualifications:
- Masters degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, or similar field
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other relevant languages, and experience with professional software development tools and practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
- Familiarity with discrete event simulation
- Familiarity with industrial engineering concepts in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with semiconductor factory modeling data - sources and types
Preferred qualifications:
- Relevant PhD (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or similar field) with focus on HPC or discrete event simulation topics
- Experience developing in C#
- Focus on discrete event modeling or high performance computing
- Experience with high performance computing, especially parallel programming
- 5+ years’ experience developing discrete event simulations in an operational environment
- 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing (especially semiconductor) environments
- 3+ years’ experience applying parallel programming and other HPC principles to operational solutions
Additional Information
For New York, the expected salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $135,000 per year. In addition, INFICON employees are eligible for a profit sharing bonus with a target of 10%. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law
