About the Job

We’re looking for a motivated AI Engineer (m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies to focus on developing advanced unmanned ground vehicles for governmental and civilian applications.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll play a crucial role in advancing autonomous capabilities for unmanned ground vehicles, collaborating with a talented team to shape the future of autonomous robotic solutions in dual-use applications.

Join our portfolio company: A German dual-use technology company that develops unmanned ground vehicles to spearhead automation in both governmental and civilian use cases.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, implement, and optimise machine learning models to enhance the perception and planning capabilities of outdoor ground robots
  • Develop systems to process and fuse multi-modal sensor data, including RGB, LiDAR, thermal cameras, and IMUs
  • Collaborate with robotics engineers, hardware engineers, and data scientists to ensure robust and efficient integration of autonomy features
  • Conduct rigorous testing of autonomous systems in simulation environments and real-world scenarios to guarantee performance, safety, and reliability
  • Document development processes, algorithms, and system configurations for both internal teams and external stakeholders

Your Profile

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++, along with experience in PyTorch and TensorRT.
  • Practical experience with machine learning-based perception and planning tasks, including object detection, semantic segmentation, and the full machine learning lifecycle from dataset creation to model deployment.
  • Knowledge of processing data from LiDAR, radar, GPS, IMUs, and camera sensors.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems independently and in team settings.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices such as version control (e.g., Git), continuous integration, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience with generative models and deploying and optimizing models for edge devices is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field
  • Fluency in English is required, and German is a plus

Please note that we are looking for support in the Munich office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
