About the team

Roku is building a world class voice system that is used by millions of Roku users. You will be joining a talented, high-performance team working on a cutting edge conversation AI system with a history of delivery.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technologies. This role provides an opportunity to learn and contribute to ASR model development and data processing tasks and to learn from experienced professionals in the field.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting with data preparation and processing for ASR model training.
• Gaining exposure to ASR frameworks such as Kaldi and modern architectures like K2 and NVIDIA NeMo.
• Supporting model training and evaluation using frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow. 
• Collaborating with the team on coding tasks in Python, with optional exposure to C++. 

We’re excited if you have

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD in computer science or a related field. Due to graduate in December 2025 or later.
• Proficiency in Python
• Interest in speech recognition with some exposure to ASR systems and tools.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with machine learning frameworks (PyTorch, Tensorflow)
