Data Engineer

BrainBox AI utilizes self-adapted artificial intelligence technology to proactively optimize the energy consumption of one of the largest climate change contributors: Buildings. 

Our AI engine supports a self-operating building that requires no human intervention. Using deep learning, cloud-based computing, and our proprietary process, our solution autonomously optimizes existing Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control systems for maximum impact on energy consumption. 

We are excited to offer a dynamic opportunity for a Data Engineer to play a pivotal role in our innovative technology team. In this crucial position, you will lead the operationalization of our data-driven solutions within the Energy Brain—a central part of our Big Data infrastructure that powers our AI-driven initiatives in energy, sustainability, and smart building sectors. The Energy Brain integrates interactions with operations, algorithms, cloud computing, data science, and Large Language Models (LLMs), embodying BrainBox AI's dedication to reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainability. As a Senior Data Engineer, your expertise will not only shape our data strategies but also ensure their effective deployment in real-world applications and advanced analytics.

What you will do

• Assume a pivotal role in designing and developing a cloud-based data and analytics platform capable of handling diverse data requirements, including the acquisition, business alignment and transformation of internal and external data sources.
• Work closely with business to understand the data requirements and propose coding and architectural solutions for state of art ETL pipelines customized to problem specifics.
• Setting up advanced monitoring and alarm systems for critical data assets.
• Build Data quality monitoring and reporting systems.
• Take ownership of the cloud-based infrastructure supporting the data engineering workflow using IAC.

What you will need to be successful

• A bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 years+ of experience focused in engineering, with a strong focus on deploying data-driven solutions in real-world environments.
• Proficiency in data-related technologies and programming languages, particularly Python, pandas, SQL and Big Data solutions (spark, presto, Hive).
• Experience of working with AWS serverless echo system
• Hands on working experience with AWS focused on data technologies such as S3, Aurora , DynamoDB, EMR, IAM, LAMBDA, Kinesis, Firehose
• Advanced understanding of ETL tools and techniques for batch and stream processing.
• Experience with IAC and understanding of CI/CD pipelines
• Expert in git-based collaborative workflow, test driven development and agile framework.
• Good to Have: AWS Glue ETL, Lake Formation, Crawlers, MWAA, Terraform.
• A collaborative spirit, eager to engage in a team-oriented environment and share knowledge with peers.
