You’ll join a team of 17, consisting of a mix of grades, all working on a number of different projects. Our workplan is agreed quarterly, which ensures that work is varied and opportunities to learn are numerous.
This is a chance to lead data analysis work that creates a detailed picture of flood and coastal risk across the country. Your work will improve data that underpins a vast array of activities, from flood warnings and the effort to combat climate change, to enhancing the public’s understanding of flood risk.
Reporting to the FCRM Data Improvements Team Leader, you will:
• Lead project delivery for the team ensuring that as a team we deliver our workplan.
• Deliver results through others. Leading, supporting and motivating team members, ensuring that we deliver joined-up, holistic improvements across projects.
• Play a key role in engaging with other internal teams and project leads, ensuring we deliver data improvements which meet their needs and expectations.

Having an incident role is an essential part of working for the Environment Agency and an active way to support communities and prevent harm to the environment. The team   The Data Improvements team will sit within the Innovation, Systems and Services Department in National FCRM. We are a friendly, enthusiastic, inclusive and supportive team dedicated to improving datasets. We do this by supporting others to provide clear, useable and reliable data that ensures customers can have an accurate picture of flood risk.
As a team we like to challenge the status quo, innovate at every turn, build strong relationships and improve ways of working. Experience/skills required   This challenge requires a flair for solving problems and delivering effective solutions with data. We’re looking for someone who:

• Has experience with GIS, databases and PowerBI as well has knowing how to use standard IT packages, such as Excel, Word & PowerPoint
• Has experience in data management and analysis
• Has experience in delivering solutions and tools using data
• Has experience of leading projects from design to delivery.
• Is an excellent communicator and influential personality, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical people
• Works effectively as part of a team and can forge strong relationships
• Committed to professional development

Desirable experience:
• You will be a member of a professional institution.
• You will likely have a bachelor’s degree in data science, geography, engineering or other related subject Contact and additional information   There are permanent and temporary positions available. The temporary positions are 23 months in duration. Your preference will be discussed at interview.
Work location is flexible, but you must have a base at one of our offices across England. We offer hybrid home/office working but some travel is expected for team meetings.
