At Continental Tires we are aiming to become a leader in the digitalization of fleet solutions. We are creating innovative digital products for our fleet customers to take on big problems to help service partners, fleet managers and drivers with our solutions around the world.

Our IT R&D organization constantly establishes new technology to help R&D Tires design and develop the best-performing and most sustainable tires on the market. Naturally, we work in close partnership with the Tire Research and Development team to ensure the solutions we build help the Tire team be the most efficient and effective it can be.

As a Data Engineer you will be part of the Digitalization & Infrastructure team of the Field Intelligence department. You will work among a team of data engineers, Dev/Ops engineers and field engineers to develop and maintain data operations in the cloud to unlock the potential of the tire performance data collected in our field tests.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines for various business purposes (data warehouse, dashboarding, ML lifecycles);
  • Enabling data analysts and business owners by building understandable tables, views and data marts;
  • Contribute and support ensuring data integrity, data availability and data quality;
  • Develop AWS infrastructure with Infrastructure as Code (with Python);
  • Consolidate complex data environments consisting of multiple data sources and formats;
  • Collaborate cross-functional with data analysts, data scientists and report owners.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field;
  • 3 years of working experience as a data engineer;
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL;
  • Experience with data modeling (ideally hands on experience with modelling dimensional data models);
  • Advanced skills with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL);
  • Experience working with a Data Warehouse platform (Redshift preferred);
  • Hands-on experience in distributed data processing technologies (e.g. Apache Hadoop, PySpark, Dask) and streaming technologies (e.g. Apache Spark, Apache Kafka);
  • Working knowledge in the cloud technology AWS (ideal experience with Infrastructure as Code like Terraform, CDK);
  • Knowledge with workflow managers (e.g. Apache Airflow, Luigi, dagster);
  • Experience in map matching and routing technologies is a plus (e.g. OSRM, GraphHopper or Valhalla);
  • Experience with BI and dashboarding frameworks such as Tableau or PowerBI is a plus;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Able to work independently as part of a global team;
  • Proficient English language skills;
  • Experience with Agile development methods.
