Get the latest stock market news, stock information & quotes, data analysis reports, as well as a general overview of the market landscape from Nasdaq.We are seeking to hire a Quantitative Researcher to join the Quant Research group within Nasdaq Europe’s Economic and Statistical Research team.
The quant research unit acts as the central research hub providing quantitative research and analytics services to multiple Nasdaq business units such as cash equities (listing and trading), equity derivatives, and market data with the overarching aim of improving Nasdaq’s trading offering, capital formation, and market structure within the Nordic and Baltic region. Select projects include supporting product development work on new market models and order types, helping Nasdaq’s customers optimize trading/routing decisions, and designing incentive schemes to attract order flow and measuring the efficacy of such initiatives.
What will you be doing?
- Employ advanced statistical, quantitative, and econometric techniques to conduct top quality research in areas such as market microstructure, pricing strategy, dark and lit fragmentation, and market liquidity.
- Employ artificial intelligence and machine learning models while developing trading protocols, order types, routing strategies, etc.; designing and implementing proof-of-concept research for new product ideas; work with relevant engineering teams to deploy successful product ideas in production.
- Take end-to-end ownership of research projects including defining the project scope, building data pipelines, data analysis and visualization, communication of research output, and industrialization of research findings.
- Contribute to improvements to the cloud-based research infrastructure and to the development of core analytical capabilities and model libraries.
- Create clear, concise, and organized communication materials (e.g., reports, presentations, procedures, and technical documentation) for consumption by audiences with different levels of subject-matter expertise.
- Independently work with and supervise students and interns on specific projects.
- Develop expertise in significant market, strategy, and/or policy areas.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
We expect you to have
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Financial Engineering or equivalent.
- Up to 3 years of work experience employing statistical/econometric techniques and/or artificial intelligence and machine learning models within a quantitative research environment to produce robust, actionable research insights.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar, working with specialized statistical tools and large data sets. Strong skills in SQL (MS, PostgreSQL, Redshift)
- Experience applying sound scientific practices, formulating and testing hypothesis, back testing, verifying accuracy and predictive ability of models, etc.
- Experience in producing actionable decision material for senior management, and the ability to explain complex and technical concepts in a simple and meaningful manner
- Proficient English language skills
It would be great if you have
- A background working as a quantitative researcher in the finance industry, preferably in a trading environment
- Experience in transforming prototype models into production resilient application frameworks.
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Redshift)
- Experience working in a governed development environment, having version control, doing code review, producing technical documentation, etc.
