Program Location for 2025: Charlotte, NC
The Duke Energy Training Technology and System Operations Summer Intern program is designed for presently enrolled college students looking to bring their skills, innovative mindset, and passion to the energy sector.
IT Interns will participate on a variety of compelling business and technical ventures while gaining invaluable on-the-job experience. They will gain familiarity with the organization and the company’s business operations by networking with other Interns and more senior level employees, as well as honing their own skills for future, practical application. The Training Technology and System Operations intern will have the opportunity to work with a mentor who will guide and support the student in their professional development. Additionally, the student employee will be given projects to work on independently, allowing the student to build skills and think creatively.
Required Qualifications
Enrolled and pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in an IT or related major, such as Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Software Information Systems, Information Technology, Information Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or other Analytics degree
Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
Must not graduate prior to August 2025
Desired Qualifications:
Rising Senior
Working knowledge of predictive models.
Working knowledge of statistics.
Exposure to or familiarity with Data mining and analytics
Python for predictive modeling, Data Visualization, SQL.
Leadership potential or skills displayed through extracurricular activities.
Ability to excel in a variety of roles.
Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Community service, volunteer experience.
Self-driven, motivated, and proactive.
Working Conditions
Must be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the summer.
Office environment
Hybrid mobility classification - work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations.
Candidates who are hired for a hybrid role and reside outside of 50 miles from their assigned work location may be eligible for a housing stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses and will be determined at time of offer.
