The Mission
The CoE Data Governance team members are important to support effective and globally consistent data governance. This requires skills set on the following main data areas: data management policies & processes, data governance procedures & standards, data controls, data ownership.

The Data Governance Expert will be trusted advisors to Chief Data Officers / Data Governance Officers in the various ING business locations.

Your day to day:

  • Responsible to organize, implement, enforce and maintain policies, procedures, standards, processes and ownership for the effective data management and use of bank-wide data in alignment with the Global Data Management;
  • Assess deviations from policies and standards and prepare if/ when required, in collaboration with the CDO, the approval process for the deviation;
  • You have the opportunity to be creative and innovative. Help determine and implement new data governance ideas and processes to support ING strategic ambitions to be a digital bank;
  • You are a trusted advisor to a broad stakeholder group and help implement new standards policies and procedures in the various ING locations;
  • You want be part of a dynamic and changing future focused financial institution;
  • Belong to a new and energetic Data Governance team with multiple backgrounds and experiences. This is a relatively new team with lots of energy and ability to work both individually as well as together;
  • You will take care that data procedures are respected during important global projects to get data in the ING Data Lakes;
  • You will help local Data Offices mature in data governance by advising about global data procedures, supporting assessments of local capabilities and answering day to day questions;
  • Timely identification of developments and changes within Data Management and at ING that require update of policies, procedures and/ or standards;
  • Benchmark ING Data Management policies and standards with those of other comparable financial institutions to help maintain a world class qualitative level of the ING Data Management framework;
  • Provide training for staff on a regular basis, promoting awareness of, and compliance with, the policies and standards.

What you bring to the team:

  • Must-have experience in Financial-Banking industry
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in one of the following areas: Data Management, Risk Management, Legal or Audit Services, Compliance
  • You are pragmatic and problem-solving yet have an eye for regulatory context and boundaries
  • You have an affinity for data governance and policies/standards and are comfortable working in an international context
  • You have outstanding social skills and can communicate effectively
  • Collaboration and facilitation skills are key in this role. You are transparent and flexible and able to act at operational and executive level
  • Familiarity with EDM council and DAMA International (The Global Data Management Community) is a preference

Foreign languages: English (advanced)

Education: Education at Bachelor/Master level with a strong analytical background, in Finance, Banking or Computer Science or equivalent
