The Director of Education Data and Research will oversee the data and research team at OEQA, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality data products and research projects. This role will lead the design, execution, and delivery of key analytical initiatives that inform education policy and improve educational outcomes across Oklahoma. The Director will also serve as the primary liaison between the data team and executive leadership, tracking project progress, providing feedback, and developing team members. Additionally, the Director will present findings research findings at events including summits, conferences, and legislative events.Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Hire, lead and manage the data and research team, providing mentorship, feedback, and support to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Track progress and performance of team projects, ensuring alignment with the agency’s mission and goals.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, data literacy, and innovation within the agency.
- Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Set strategic objectives for the data and research team in alignment with OEQA’s overall mission.
- Oversee the design and execution of research and data analysis projects, including program evaluations and complex data initiatives.
- Ensure that data and research efforts are focused on solving high-priority problems in education.
- Work with other agencies and organizations to build, execute and deliver upon data sharing agreements to ensure OEQA’s access to data needed to complete projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:
- Build relationships and collaborate with stakeholders to define data needs and deliver actionable insights and products to support improved educational outcomes.
- Present complex data findings and research insights to a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, legislators, and educational leaders.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and presentations for summits, conferences, and the legislature.
- Research and Analysis:
- Utilize advanced research methodologies and data analysis techniques (e.g., statistical modeling, machine learning) to produce meaningful insights.
- Ensure high standards for data integrity, validation, and documentation across all projects.
- Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data to uncover trends, inform policy decisions, and forecast future needs.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Education Research, Policy Analysis, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a data analytics or research leadership role, preferably in education, public policy, or a related sector.
- Proven track record of managing teams and delivering complex projects on time.
- Demonstrated experience in presenting data findings.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong technical expertise in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical audiences.
- Communication and Leadership:
- Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding presentation and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment.
Additional Information:
All OEQA employees are subject to a one-year trial period to ensure a good fit with the agency and the position responsibilities.
Location:
Hybrid with offices in Oklahoma City. Candidates must be based in Oklahoma City or willing to relocate.
