The team

Within this dynamic, customer-centric organisation it is necessary to react to a fast-moving digital environment and the ongoing structural change in our sector. Customer data and analytics supports our continual experimentation and optimisation and therefore plays a pivotal role in driving the success of the FT. Data helps to shape and execute all areas of our strategy and has been one of the most significant drivers of our digital growth and transformation in recent years.

 

The Data Analytics team blends analytical and commercial expertise to work on a diverse range of projects that support the sustained growth of a loyal and engaged customer base, revenues and subscriptions. This involves deep connections and extensive collaboration with colleagues from product development, editorial, advertising, sales, marketing and finance. In order to do so the team provides the full gamut of analytical capabilities to the organisation. 

 

The role
Over the next few years we have ambitious targets to grow the FT’s global paying audience. This can only be achieved with the tools, knowledge and insights provided by the Data Analytics team. We are looking for someone who has a curiosity for interrogating data, has an eye for detail and understands the value of storytelling with data.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand briefs and identify opportunities to deliver value through insightful data analysis. 
  • Solve problems through data analysis, addressing specific business challenges, and provide strategic recommendations. 
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.



Required skills and experience 

 

Communication and storytelling 

  • An ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences 
  • A proven ability to tell compelling stories and provide actionable insights using data 
  • An interest in data visualisation

Technical proficiency 

  • An understanding of web analytics and business KPIs
  • Experience analysing and manipulating large datasets 
  • Proven Excel, SQL or BigQuery skills
  • Thorough, inquisitive nature with an eye for data quality 

Drive for self-improvement 

  • Has a proactive growth-mindset, always looking for opportunities to develop
  • Open to giving and receiving feedback

Stakeholder & Workload management 

  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Ability to manage numerous simultaneous projects and effectively prioritise workload
