In Japan we are growing fast. You will work with every business team and across the whole data lifecycle. Your focus will be on building out data pipelines, reports and dashboards that serve our ops, sales, marketing and finance teams. You’ll need to ensure our analyses are robust - making sure the right questions are being asked and that the business decisions we take are truly supported by the data.We’re proud of our science & analytics platform, and you’ll work to make sure that it is well engineered, understandable, and accessible to non-specialists as its capabilities grow. You’ll become a domain expert, supporting management’s questions and powering our continued growth.
What you'll need
- You don’t need prior energy supplier experience (we will teach you that). We’re looking for someone with the following qualities:
- Passionate about working in energy and contributing to the energy transition
- High level language skills in English, ability to speak Japanese would be a plus
- Curious and self driven - it is essential you have the initiative to make decisions yourself, and can find novel solutions to problems without lots of help and support
- Highly data literate and numerate - can make sense of lots of data and shape it into a coherent story
- Learns fast and is enthusiastic about learning new technologies
- Has an engineering mindset - passionate about building robust tools, and has experience with some of the below:
- Python for preprocessing & modelling of data, and engineering data pipelines
- Writing queries in SQL
- Building reports and dashboards in a BI tool
- A/B testing and causal inference
Our data stack
- We run a modern cloud data platform made up of the below components:
- AWS cloud infrastructure
- Databricks for data warehouse storage and querying
- dbt for data modelling and transformations
- Spark for large data processing
- Python data ecosystem as main scripting and analytics language
- Jupyter for adhoc analytics
- Airflow for task scheduling
- Kubernetes for data services and task orchestration
- Github, Circle CI, Grafana and Prometheus for version control, deployment and monitoring
- Streamlit, Databricks Dashboards and Tableau as our BI tool front ends
