Position description
Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Senior Analyst to join our world-class team of economists, policy analysts, researchers, and data engineers. Rhodium’s US Energy Projects (USEP) team conducts non-partisan, independent research on US energy systems and federal policy, state policy, and emerging clean technology (ECT) development and deployment. The team strives to get clients and key audiences to focus on the most important, impactful, and practical solutions to solving climate change both now and over the long-term.
As a Senior Analyst on the USEP team focused on federal and state policy, you will manage complex energy system modeling projects to answer critical, policy-relevant questions about future US emissions and energy system outcomes. This position does not include personnel management responsibilities, but the ideal candidate would take over management of one or more Research Analysts in the future contingent on performance and business need.

Salary within our range may also be determined by factors including, but not limited to, your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, internal equity, alignment with market data, and business or organizational needs. Typically, a Senior Analyst joins at $145,209. You will also have an additional 15% discretionary bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.

Position responsibilities
- Manage concurrent research projects, including designing analytical and research methodologies, planning project timelines and interim deliverables, developing quality assurance processes, and producing final deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
- Contribute to the operation and maintenance of Rhodium Group’s flagship US energy system model, RHG-NEMS. Contribute to the development of new RHG-NEMS functionalities with a particular emphasis on integrating emerging decarbonization pathways.
- Prepare and/or coordinate the presentation of decision-ready information to Associate Directors, Directors, and Partners to enable execution of projects aligned with senior management and client expectations.
- Contribute to the drafting of written notes and reports, presentations, and other client- and/or external-facing materials relevant to analytical projects and lead development of data visualizations and technical appendices for such projects.
- Design and manage quality assurance processes for the analytical methodology, data, and visualizations.
- Collaborate across the US Energy Projects team as well as across the energy and climate practice and between practices as needed.
- Engage with clients directly if needed, and if applicable, talk to the media and present at conferences.
- A Master’s degree (or PhD) in economics, political science, public policy, engineering, data science, or environmental science or equivalent work experience in a related field with 3+ years of research oriented-work analyzing the US clean energy sector; or a Bachelor’s degree or technical credential in the same fields with 5+ years of research oriented-work analyzing the US clean energy sector.
- Demonstrated success using energy system models; experience with economywide and other macro energy system models a plus.
- Proficient in Python; other programming languages a plus.
- Proven knowledge of energy market dynamics and a strong, current understanding of developments in US clean energy & climate policy, with an appetite to stay on top of a fast-moving field.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and multi-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Rhodium Group’s energy and climate practice has staff hubs in five cities: Washington, DC; New York, NY; the San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Seattle, WA; and Denver, CO—the candidate must be based in one of these locations, and slight preference will be given to applicants planning to work from Washington, DC.
- Occasional domestic travel (10-15%)
