About the Role:

The Generative AI team at Experian is seeking a strong engineering manager to lead their platform services and infrastructure team. The Generative AI platform services and infrastructure team is responsible for building abstracted platform services and underlying infrastructure to provide safe, compliant and cost-effective access to foundation GenAI capabilities across all Experian regions and markets. Some of the core features this team is responsible for are unified Chat/Text completion and Assistant APIs underpinning various open-source and closed-source foundation models, out-of-the-box naïve RAG services, AI safety mechanisms like customizable guardrails, risk monitoring & alerting, continuous RAG application performance evaluation & monitoring etc. enabling Experian developer community to focus on customer value.

What you’ll do here

• ·      Develop and evolve the technical vision and roadmap within the scope of your team, aligned with broader organization’s Generative AI vision and goals.
• ·      Continuous prioritization and team capacity planning to set realistic delivery goals so your team can deliver the right features on the right timeline.
• ·      Set clear expectations with individual team members based on their level and role and aligned to broader organization’s goals and meet regularly to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
• ·      Participate in design and code reviews and provide continuous feedback to ensure all the platform components are cost-effective, resilient, maintainable, and observable.
• ·      Partner with AI/ML specialists, security, risk & compliance teams to build required safety mechanisms into our GenAI platform to safeguard Experian teams, clients and consumers from risks associated with Generative AI.
• ·      Global deployment of Generative AI platform across all Experian regions and markets.
• ·      Develop instrumentation to capture various metrics and events to provide holistic KPIs to measure the usage of GenAI platform across global Experian regions.
• ·      Develop processes and tools to provide effective and efficient developer and production support for the platform.
• ·      Collaborate with geographically distributed cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
• A willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and do whatever is necessary to ensure team and company success.

What you’ll need to succeed

Must have skills: 

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering role, with proven expertise in designing scalable, reliable and efficient solutions.
• 2+ years of experience in a tech lead role with proven track record of making complex design decisions and providing technical guidance to the team.
• Adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, communicating effectively, and aligning efforts to achieve common goals.
• Experience with Python, and familiarity with backend development flow including server-side web frameworks like Flask, Django, FastAPI etc.
• Strong technical knowledge of core services like compute, storage, networking and security on any of the public cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, preferably AWS.
• Experience with CI/CD, DevOps & IaC practices and tools such as Terraform, Jenkins etc.

Qualifications

Nice to have skills:

• 3+ years of experience in managing, leading and inspiring a team of engineers, including hiring, retaining and managing performance.
• Experience working on internal developer platforms or runtime shared services that are used by all teams and products within your organization.
• Experience in building Generative AI based applications using chat/text completion APIs, Assistant APIs, Vector Databases etc.
• Experience developing data products like curated datasets, reports and dashboards.
• Experience working with containers (Docker) and container platforms, preferably AWS EKS.
