Osler is hiring a Data Management Analyst to join our Legal Operations team. This role will focus on the execution and operational support for Osler’s strategic data initiatives, including the firmwide matter data management project. Osler’s Legal Operations team leads the way in enterprise and transactional practice transformation. We apply our expertise, cutting-edge technologies and processes to support Osler’s continuing excellence in client service delivery.
The successful candidate can be based out of our Ottawa or Toronto office.
Major Responsibilities:
- Leads and executes the remediation of the firm's data sets in accordance with direction established by internal stakeholders
- Liaises with and supports internal stakeholders to reconcile and align the firm’s matter data
- Supports the implementation of the selected technical solution for matter data management
- Provides operational and user side support (including training) post-implementation
- Supports the development of improvements to the firm’s data management system and data sources
- Provides operational and other support for continued monitoring of the firm’s matter data management to ensure data quality and adherence to the firm’s matter data governance framework
- Prepares ad hoc and routine reports and analysis of data as assigned
- Supports the firm’s data governance leaders and works collaboratively to continuously enhance the data culture at the firm and promote the positives of technological change
- Participates in making informed recommendations about data governance and related matters
- Stays up to date on emerging trends and technology related to data intelligence in the legal sector
- Performs other duties as required
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
This position requires a university degree in data science, information systems or related field and a minimum of three years of experience in a user-facing data management/intelligence role (preferably within a law firm setting) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Legal services/professional services firm experience is an asset
- Knowledge of data intelligence and analytics software and tools used in the legal sector
- Experience with data technology (such as Foundation), data infrastructure, or information systems projects in a law firm setting is an asset
- Exceptional level of attention to detail and data-driven approach to work
- Proven ability to execute data-driven tasks successfully
- Strong analytical and data organization skills
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Time management and organizational skills in order to efficiently multi-task and prioritize among many demands
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and learn new technology and frameworks quickly
- A self-starter with a positive and collaborative attitude
We are currently working in a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a requirement to work primarily in the office and flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
